St. Xavier’s College plays an essential role in the teaching-learning process. Library, as a source of knowledge, supplements what is taught in class. The college library has a collection of subject related books, reference books, magazines, journals, e-books, e-journals, newspapers and other resources for the use of its members. The Library provides services to the students, faculty members, of the College through ‘Admitek DigiLib’Library Automation & Management Software.

  • The College Library has spacious reading room facility with seating capacity of 75 student’s users.
  • A round-the-clock surveillance is made through the CCTVs.
  • E-resource Access Section with Wi-Fi facility.
  • The library provides Book-Bank facility for financially challenged students from all disciplines.

Following norms and procedure are to be followed in the library:

  1. Silence must be maintained in the library always.
  2. A student may borrow a maximum of two books at a time for seven days. If the student is in dire need of the same books, he / she may apply for their renewal for another seven days.
  3. Reference books cannot be taken out of the library.
  4. When a student loses a book, he/she has to replace it or pay the price for a new book.
  5. All books should be handled with care so that as many students as possible may use them.
  6. No one should take any book from the library by himself/herself. Students can search books from online system of the computer and notify the librarian. He will provide the book.
  7. The book bank facility is provided only to students belonging to economically challenged groups and communities. Besides regular library facilities, they can issue at most four books from book-bank for a full semester. The textbooks are mainly emphasized for this section, though very few common reference books may also be lent out.
Rules & Regulations:
  •   No bags and personal books are allowed in the library.
  •   Students are permitted to enter library on showing the College Identity card.
  •   Library books will be issued only on showing the College Identity card.
  •   Only two books will be issued to each student at one time.
  •   Books will be issued to a student for a maximum period of 14 days.
  •   Reference books, magazines, journals will not be issued.
  •   If a library book is lost by a student, then he/she has to replace it or pay the cost of the new book.
  •   If papers are torn off or damaged from the book, student has to either replace the book or deposit the cost of book.
  •   Students should return books within a week after completing their respective semester/yearly examinations, otherwise a fine will be charged.
  •   Each student shall obtain a No dues certificate from the library after returning all the books issued.
  •   The students are expected to be silent absolutely in the library.
  •   No discussion is permitted inside the library.
  •   Use of mobile phones is not allowed in the library.
