About the Department
The Department of Geography is one of the premier departments of the college. The Department started functioning from 2011. The department is supported by committed professors who aim at effectively delivering a course in Geography renown for uniformly maintaining its standards of academic excellence over the years.
The quality of students in the undergraduate programme is commendable. The course encompasses study on the subjects like Geomorphology, Biogeography, Environmental Geography, Economic Geography, Climatology, Oceanography, Population Geography and more along with contemporary subjects of Geography like Cultural and Tribal Geography.
The students are also engaged in various practical works like the use of Dumpy level, Prismatic compass etc. for surveying. The students are also exposed to various environments by the Department by taking them on an educational tour.
This course is a full-time course. The duration is for three years programme leading to the award of the degree of Bachelor in Geography (B.A. Geography Honours).

The vision of the Geography Department is to make each student of the Department well informed and active future citizens. The department aims at making the students understand how they are connected to nature and environment around them and how their being responsible impacts the environment they inhabit and the future depends on their responsible choices. The Department of Geography is dedicated to the advancement of knowledge and to serving our communities.
The mission of the Department is to instil an interest, fascination and desire to investigate a variety of human and physical characteristics of different places, both local and afar. The department provides the students with various opportunities where they can use their geographical skills to understand, analyse, present and communicate a range of information. These skills are put to practice both inside and outside the classroom through practicals and field trips.
