About the Department
St. Xavier's College Maharo is going to introduce its undergraduate course in Political Science from 2021. It is going to be a regular three-year degree course following the norms and curriculum of Sido Kanhu Murmu University. The department aims to prepare students for a wide range of careers by teaching a set of transferable skills through the study of core elements of politics and administration, national and international law and economies across a broad chronological and geographical spectrum.
The Department of Political Science aims to promote a skilled, critically aware and informed citizenry; an honest academic and public engagement with the contemporary society that values the principles of democracy and ethics based on the constitutional framework of India.

Vision:
The Department seeks to build its students’ transferable skills, employability and intellectual curiosity, along with raising public awareness about the society and its administrative system through teaching, research and service activities conducted locally, state-wide, regionally, nationally, and internationally.
Mission:
The department seeks to build students in a holistic manner who would grow up to be responsible and aware citizens of the nations well versed in polity and social values. They would inculcate rational political values among their brethren.
