St. Xavier’s college, Maharo, being a Jesuit college, aims at integral formation of every student in the college. Usually a college tends to stress academic achievements of students but not so a Jesuit college. In our college, every student is given personal attention and his/her total formation is looked after to make the person totally fit to be a good citizen of our country. Ignatian pedagogy is based on a principle that takes into account five characteristics such as context, experience, reflection, action and evaluation to make lessons relevant to the social and personal lives of students. There is no question of mere accumulation of knowledge in this system but stresses understanding and ability to critically analyse and find solutions to problems that face personal lives and society. Students learn to be self-confident and objective in their assessment and evaluation and can face problems with courage and positive mind-set that make them winners all the way.
