Introduction of Research in the College:
The college envisions establishing a strong research culture by creating dedicated research centres and encouraging faculty and student research initiatives. Research facilities and funding will be sought to promote interdisciplinary studies, particularly in Social Sciences, Environmental Studies, and STEM disciplines, to contribute meaningfully to academic and societal advancements.
-
Introduction of Postgraduate Courses:
Recognizing the need for higher education opportunities, the college plans to introduce Postgraduate (PG) courses in English, Geography, Zoology, BBA, and BCA. This will provide students in the region access to advanced education and research opportunities, reducing the need to migrate to other states for PG studies.
-
Infrastructural Developments:
To support academic advancements, infrastructural improvements will include a state-of-the-art digital library, well-equipped laboratories for Mathematics and Geography, and modernized classrooms. These facilities will enhance academic resources and learning experiences.
-
Well-Equipped Gym:
A fully-equipped gymnasium will be developed to promote physical well-being among students and faculty. This initiative aims to encourage fitness, discipline, and mental wellness, contributing to the overall holistic development of students.
-
Centre for Cultural Studies (Tribal Culture):
Considering the rich tribal heritage of the region, particularly of the Santhal and Paharia communities, a Centre for Cultural Studies will be established. This center will focus on preserving and promoting indigenous traditions, languages, folklore, and tribal knowledge systems through research, documentation, and cultural events.
-
Collaborations for Funding:
To support these initiatives, the college will actively seek collaborations with funding agencies like ICSSR, UGC, and other government and private organizations. These partnerships will provide financial aid for research, infrastructure, and academic development, ensuring sustainable growth.
This Institutional Development Plan aligns with the vision of St. Xavier’s College, Maharo, Dumka, in transforming into a center of excellence, fostering knowledge, research, and cultural enrichment for students and the community.
